Sean Morgan (MRS)
Sean has over 10 years experience delivering a wide variety of market research projects at LJ Research. A Member of the Market Research Society, the Tourism Society and Hospitality Professionals Association (HOSPA), Sean has extensive knowledge of domestic and international tourism and regularly briefs industry professionals on visitor trends, hotel statistics and other tourism insights in his role as Managing Director. In recent years, the LJ Research portfolio of clients has widened to include many non-tourism related businesses. Sean implements and manages creative research methodologies to gain value added insights for these clients.
Sean holds an Honours degree in Actuarial Mathematics & Statistics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. When not immersed in or discussing the implication of market research findings, Sean is generally found on the A198 in East Lothian in a cycling chain gang.
Dr Thomas Mathar (CMRS)
A Certified Member of the Market Research Society (CMRS) and ESOMAR member, Tom has enjoyed a breadth of research roles at both agency and client-side; public and private sector over the last 7 years. With a PhD in Social Anthropology and a Masters Degree in Social Economy, he’s equipped to apply a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methods as well as secondary research skills. Tom oversees several of our international market research projects.
Outside work, Tom has normally front crawled (swum!) about a mile before arriving in the office and plays jazz piano after having left the office.
Senior Research Executive
Catherine is an experienced researcher and insight consultant having spent over seven years at dunnhumby and two years at GfK prior to joining LJ Research. Catherine has particular expertise in FMCG and customer loyalty research and over the years has delivered actionable insights to a broad range of clients, including several global manufacturers and retailers.
Outside of work Catherine enjoys creative writing and cross-country running.
Senior Research Executive
In his role as Senior Research Executive Steven’s work includes ongoing assignments with destinations and visitor attractions. He is also involved in delivering key analysis and insights from our ongoing destination visitor feedback projects and LJ Forecaster hotel studies. Steven holds an MSc in Tourism Marketing and a BBA in Tourism Management and Consultancy. From Belgium originally, he is a Flemish native speaker with a passion for travel having lived in and visited a wide range of countries across the world over the last 10 years from Hong Kong to Tanzania!
Aside from his tourism and travel passion, his more obscure enthusiasms include freestyle wrestling and motorcycle racing.
Tereza began her market research career in the Prague office of international marketing research agency Millward Brown. For nearly 2 years she managed and oversaw a number of global market research projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, including FMCG, services and long term goods companies. Tereza holds a Masters degree in Marketing gained from the University of Stirling.
Tereza joined LJ Research in November 2015, her ongoing responsibilities include questionnaire design, project management, data quality control, data analysis and drafting reports and presentations.
Outside of work, she likes travelling, playing tennis and reading books.
Junior Research Executive
Claire joined the team in late November 2016 and has a BA (Hons) from Edinburgh Napier University Psychology with Sociology – a notable element of her course included a dissertation on statistics anxiety! Her role at LJ Research sees her involved in a broad range of projects assisting with survey design and administration, data processing and data quality control.
In her spare time Claire loves running round the hills of Edinburgh, playing board games and creating dresses for herself.
Nicola joined in December 2015 and is responsible for the smooth running of the office, including managing invoices, payments, suppliers and assisting the research team on projects.
Prior to working at LJ Research, Nicola worked as a Finance Manager and Office Manager in various Edinburgh-based offices as well as being a self-employed book keeper too.
Nicola works part-time at LJ Research, she is busy entertaining family and kids the rest of the working week.
