Sean Morgan (MMRS)
Director of Research
Sean has over 10 years’ experience delivering a wide variety of market research projects for the Tourism Consumer Insights team (formerly LJ Research). A Member of the Market Research Society, the Tourism Society and the Tourism Consultants Network, Sean has extensive knowledge of domestic and international tourism and regularly briefs industry professionals on visitor trends, hotel statistics and other tourism insights in his role as Director of Research. Sean has overall responsibility for the Tourism Consumer Insights team of STR. This role includes designing and overseeing creative research methodologies to gain value added insights for the broad range of tourism research clients served by STR and leveraging the new opportunities and capabilities the Tourism Consumer Insights team offers STR clients.
Sean holds an Honours degree in Actuarial Mathematics & Statistics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. When not immersed in or discussing the implication of market research findings, Sean is generally found on the A198 in East Lothian in a cycling chain gang.
Nigel Donnell (MMRS)
Nigel has over 15 years’ experience in the research sector having previously worked at Tesco and the independent research company, Scotinform. He brings a client and agency side perspective to the company and a wealth of experience in quantitative and qualitative methods. A natural at quantitative research, Nigel provides excellent data analysis and interpretation giving clients meaningful, actionable research findings. On the qualitative side he has consulted with a range of key stakeholders in focus groups and depth interviews, including students, business people and hard to reach audiences.
Nigel is an Arts and Social Science graduate of the University of Dundee where he also completed an MPhil in Politics and Policies in Contemporary Europe (Distinction). He has completed the MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research and is a Member of the Market Research Society.
Away from work, Nigel is a keen runner and hill walker with most weekends involving one, or ideally, both.
Senior Research Executive
Tereza began her market research career in the Prague office of international marketing research agency Millward Brown. For nearly 2 years she managed and oversaw a number of global market research projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, including FMCG, services and long term goods companies. Tereza holds a Masters degree in Marketing gained from the University of Stirling.
Tereza joined the Tourism Consumer Insights team in November 2015. Her ongoing responsibilities include questionnaire design, project management, data quality control, data analysis and drafting reports and presentations.
Outside of work, she likes travelling, playing tennis and reading books.
Ruairidh joined the team in February 2018 after working at DC Thomson Media in Dundee. There he worked on research and development projects across the business including kids titles such as The Beano as well as national and regional newspaper titles. Ruairidh holds a MA (Hons) in History and International Relations from the University of Dundee.
His ongoing responsibilities include questionnaire design and survey administration, data quality control procedures, data analysis as well as inputting in to STR’s expanding repertoire of reports and presentations.
In his own time Ruairidh enjoys creative writing, reading books and playing video and board games.
Claire joined the team in late November 2016 and has a BA (Hons) from Edinburgh Napier University Psychology with Sociology – a notable element of her course included a dissertation on statistics anxiety! Her role on the Tourism Consumer Insights team sees her involved in a broad range of projects including assisting with survey design and administration, data processing and data quality control.
In her spare time Claire loves running round the hills of Edinburgh, playing board games and creating dresses for herself.
Steven Cote (MMRS)
Steven oversees the development of STR’s Forecaster product – a forward looking performance measurement tool for hotels and serviced apartments. An adept analyst and strong communicator, he delivers powerful analysis and insights utilising STR data – both future looking and historical hotel performance data – as well other tourism data enabling STR clients to better understand key factors driving their profitability and performance.
Steven holds an MSc in Tourism Marketing and a BBA in Tourism Management and Consultancy. From Belgium originally, he is a Flemish native speaker with a passion for travel. He has lived in and visited a wide range of countries across the world over the last 10 years, from Hong Kong to Tanzania!
Aside from his tourism and travel passion, his more obscure enthusiasms include freestyle wrestling and motorcycle racing.
