LJ Business Barometer

The LJ Business Barometer is a key business information benchmark tool; a mechanism put in place to collect hard information as well as more qualitative views of tourism businesses within an area.

The reports provide invaluable monitoring and planning information for a destination and its partners and allow businesses to understand how performance is in their area. The reports also indicate the way in which tourism performance differs depending on the season, and provides a view on business confidence looking forward.

The information we collect asks businesses to assess performance by quarters and indicate how they see business performing in the coming months. The information we collect includes:

• Customer numbers and turnover
• Investment decisions
• Overheads and other costs
• Barriers to growth internally & externally
• Perceptions of local and national agencies
• Business confidence
• Customer demographics
