LJ Research has worked over the years with many clients from across the tourism, travel and hospitality industry. Here is a small selection of recent or current projects to illustrate the type of projects we undertake. Surveying conference delegates
Using Visitrac we have surveyed delegates at the annual conference for several years and now provide ASVA with a detailed assessment of the conference and analysis that allows them to benchmark the conference’s success year on year. This project has saved ASVA staff time, it is cost effective and based on the results helps them to plan effectively for the coming year.Monitoring Quality Standards
Using Visitrac we survey professional conference organisers who have enquired and/or brought substantial international association conferences to each of the major cities in this worldwide group of conference cities. Our research provides the bureaux and the secretariat with information to ensure that quality standards are monitored and maintained.Attractions Research
This unique five star attraction is located in the Royal Mile very near to Edinburgh Castle. We have created a Visitrac customer feedback survey for them which they use to send out to visitors all year round. This research has helped Camera Obscura to keep close to their visitors and take on board their comments. Staff can get direct feedback from visitors and the survey information enables this attraction to maintain its enviable 5 star status.City Surveys Insight
This organisation, responsible for the promotion of the city, is a key player in capturing additional overnight business generated by a whole range of initiatives; for example, events, festivals, film location opportunities and new attractions as well as attracting major conferences to the city. In the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, they recognise that it is critical to understand visitor behaviour and to be able to monitor visitor perceptions of service and quality standards in order to provide the best experience for everyone – be it those coming for a conference or on a leisure trip. Using Visitrac we undertake the Glasgow Visitor Survey year round on behalf of GCMB and its partners. The information is widely used by partners and the results feed into the Glasgow Tourism Service Initiative which is in place to ensure that Glasgow meets the expectations of its visitors.Capital City Intelligence
LJR, working in partnership with the Leisure Pass Group, undertake a continuous London Visitor Survey, monitoring all aspects of the London visitor experience. Running since 2010, we receive over 6 thousand responses a year from visitors mostly coming from overseas to London. This wealth of data will provide a benchmark against which 2012 the year of the Olympics can be measured.
Brecon Beacons National Park
Using Visitrac, we undertake a year round visitor survey to provide partners in the Brecon Beacons National Park with visitor analysis and insight to allow for the monitoring of the tourism product, services and standards. This information is fed back to businesses operating in the area and to those responsible for developing tourism in the area.
Cairngorms Business Partnership Business Barometer
We have developed a survey and reporting mechanism to collect consistent information from businesses on a quarterly basis that allows us to report on business performance and confidence and track change over time.
The National Trust for Scotland
We have created a research panel made up of both members and non-members who regularly participate in surveys. These surveys are designed to capture insight on particular topics to inform the development of the Trust. The information from these panel surveys enables the Trust to measure and monitor their activities and to do so in a way that is both robust and cost effective.
Historic Scotland / The National Trust for Scotland
During 2011 using a self-completion methodology we engaged with visitors going to 18 properties across Scotland. In this partnership project our experience and expertise has proved to be an attractive option both from a cost perspective and for its potential to provide benchmark information to these organisations.
